My white Cochin jenni has just recently hurt herself this morning. It's the back of her head/ her comb. I can't tell where exactly because she won't let me touch it. I have tried cleaning it but she just squirms and jumps down. I don't know what to do.. What should I clean it with? How do I clean it without hurting her? The other chickens haven't really been trying to peck her or anything but I don't want to take any chances! Please leave suggestions or articles that migh help me. If you have any questions, let me know I will answer them. Thank you so much!

Get someone to help you hold her. Use some disinfectant such as weak betadine, chlorhexadene, or soap and water to clean the wound. Apply some antibiotic cream, and put her in a cage inside the coop over night with the others. BluKote is sometimes used to hide any red areas or scabs to discourage pecking. If she is that active, she probably will recover, but make sure that the bleeding has stopped.
