My brooder walls, should the 2 sides and back wall be plywood or can I use chicken wire with cardboard on outside of wire? I just don't want a fire? Card board is cheaper and I can staple it over the chicken wire to be remove/replaced if needed. 20 1/2 x 33 1/2 x 34" tall
It's only for 3 or four chicks till they feather out and be let go in the coop. The brooder is 3 ft off the ground so that my one and only chicken (Roxie) can see them when she roosts. I don't plan on putting them in the coop till about 3 weeks old. The coop is fully enclosed. 8 x 5 x 6' tall. With 3 windows one on the north, south and east walls. The floor in the brooder could be plywood or hardware cloth with cardboard over it.
The brooder is on the south wall facing north and will be covering the south window. This whole set up brooder is temporary and will be taken out when they get bigger
Thanks
