Insulation ideas anyone?

It's the time of year when it really is getting cold out and my chicken coop just isn't very well insulated. I really would like to get the insulation in before it starts snowing, which could be any time this month. Do you have any ideas on what sort of insulation is best? I don't want anything that'll be a fire hazard.

I use the pink foam board insulation. They like to eat it

What part of the country do you live in? I used regular foam board and boarded up around the bottom of the coop and covered the foam board where they could reach. So far so good. Chickens can take some pretty cold weather when they are all feathered out.

We just made sure the insulation was a kind without formaldehyde.......and that it was covered once installed.
If using any styrofoam type insulation, cover it up with something or they'll waste no time eating it like it was fine dining!

I used the pink fluffy insulation that people use in their homes. I build the coop with insulation in mind so I was able to build it into the walls.

Another idea is the foam board insulation, make sure your chickens can not get at it though, since they will peck and eat it (it's not good for them in any way)

You could also use bales of hay on the outside of the coop, to insulate and break down on winds.

They'll eat the foam and tear up and scatter the fiberglass.

I used the fiberglass between the studs and covered it with 1/4" plywood - walls and roof. The floor had foam board but since that evolved into a mouse problem, it only has the pine shavings litter to keep feet warm now.
