So I currently have 2 year and half old hens, 1 17 week old EE hen and 1 17 week old unintentional EE rooster.
They each definitely stick to the one they were raised with and the BR hens rule the roost and the yard. Masala (EE rooster) is definitely Tikka's (EE hen) buddy and protector and pal.
I may have to get rid of Masala if his crowing annoys the neighbors and I'm disappointed that I won't be getting any eggs from him. I'd rather hoped to have 4 producing hens to supply my family and my MIL and FIL.
Here's the question part:
My neighbor (has a lot of hens) will be getting BO chicks at the begining of August. I don't have room for more than one more chicken in my coop and pen and I know I don't want to raise one solitary chick on it's own. Can I get a chick when she gets hers, have mine raised with hers and then bring it over to my place when it's ready to go outside and do the introduction thing with it (like how I did with T and M to the BR hens - took a long time but they're doing ok now). Or does it need to stay with the ones it was raised with? Will it ever become buddies with Tikka? I hate the thought of having 2 lonely hens who won't bond with eachother.
