On Sunday we just picked up 3 week old Black Australorp chicks and were thinking about getting a couple more of a different breed. I've read so many things about integration of chicks vs older chickens and what to do, but is there any concern like that when it comes to integrating chicks with more chicks around the same age? If so, what precautions should I take?

Thanks so much in advance!

Honestly, when I have to mix chicks of similar or even different ages, I just plop the new ones in the brooder and everything is fine. I just recently bought a second batch of chicks from TSC, the first batch was more than 2 weeks old. I put the newbies straight into the brooder and other than being tiny compared to the other chicks, they did just fine. I think as long as you have enough space, there isn't a huge age gap, the younger chicks have their legs under them and you don't have any particularly aggressive chicks all should be well. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your input! I figured it wasn't a big deal, but I'd rather err on the side of caution! haha! Thanks again! :)
