Interested in getting guineas

Can you tell what sex they are as keets?
I'd like just 2 to control our hoards of Japanese Beetles but would rather not have them reproducing on me.
Are they good eating in case we don't like the noise?
How do the sexes compare on noise and behavior?

they are great. they hang out with each other all the time so you would need a few of them and i only have two acres of land. but they go around to the cow pasture beside me to. anyway they really clean the yard up. when we fist moved to our house no one had lived here in a couple of years. you could bend down out side and see the ticks crawling. freaked me out. but since i got my chickens and the guineas i dont have that trouble any more. the only time mine sound off is when something is in the yard that shouldnt be, when one has gotten lost from the others or when they see a hawk come over and they seem to warn everyone! any other time i dont hear mine. i had six last year but something happen to two of them.

Almost impossible to sex guineas at keets.

Get a few and see what you end up with. I hear they are very good to eat and you can also eat their eggs.

I once thought Guineas were too noisy and denied my DW getting them for that reason.

I finally gave in and to my surprise while they are quite noisy I should have researched Goose breeds more as the White Chinese Geese we have will give you a headache if you are around them long.

My oh My they live up to their legacy as being the most Talkative of geese.

Find someone that has them and pull into thier driveway, you will quickly find out how loud they can be. BUT wait a couple of minutes if they decide you are no longer a threat, they will quiet till you move again.
