what breeds do you want to show ? learn the standard of perfection for that breed. what type of shows do you plan on doing, 4-h, county fair, or breed shows. post some pictures of the birds you want to show, people on here will help you decide which ones SHOULD be shown. just because it is your favorite bird doesn't mean it is a good bird to take to a show. start handleing the birds you want to show, get them used to the judge picking them up. i hope this helps

The time and patience part is on your end. There is a lot to know and even a long thread on a forum like this is not going to give you everything you need to know.

Take the time and patience to surf the net and read as much as you can so that you can digest some of what people are going to tell you. I would start with the ABA and APA websites and follow their links..
Laura Haggerty ( pathfinders ) has a website that has some excellent articles for beginners.

Also this question comes up twice a week, search this forum for information.

But the best thing to do is go to a show and observe first then ask questions. There is a show in Cement Oklahoma tomorrow. I am sure the judging starts at 9 am and it should be over by 2 or 3. It is an all bantam show.
