Interesting chicken behavior

A raccoon killed one of my hens last week in the hen house area. I now have two. I noticed that one had stopped laying...or so I thought. I have found a makeshift nest under a bush and that's where her eggs seem to be now.

The other hen doesn't lay yet but refuses to roost in the hen house now. I have to scoop her up and put her there at night.

I'm certain this is because that area is tainted in their mind now. Any suggestions?

First, make sure the area is predator proof so that it doesn't happen again. Next, my suggestion would be to lock them up for a couple days until they get used to the idea of that being home again.

Did you make sure to clean it really well after the attack? They might smell blood or the raccoon still and not like it...
