Interesting eggtopsy results . . .

Do you think that eggs from one hen could be more "fragile" internally? that could be an explaination. because the ones from the other batch of hens came in the same box and were fine. Also two of the eggs from the "bad" group had air cells at the wrong end, those looked like they made it to about day 12.

That's kinda what I was thinking - maybe the eggs from that one pen are just not very strong due to their various abnormalities overall, so they stopped developing at different points based on their individual levels of viability? It makes sense that if it were bacterial, you would see or smell some evidence by day 23. Very interesting!

Sure would be interesting to know more about that pen of birds. Also wonder how the eggs do without the shipping? And wonder if they are from show stock or??

Did you mean contentious, or conscientious? I'm guessing the second one.....

OK, I have to ask this...if he knows there are serious problems with the eggs from the hens in that pen, why is he shipping them? Or were these sent free as a test batch, to see what would happen? Or did he not know until he'd sent out a bunch? I can see how a person might ship out a bunch of eggs, then find out later there's a problem.

My bad spelling, I mean conscientious. The guy is awesome, they were free test eggs. I was not complaining at all merely wanting to have a discussion about the issue. I am really glad I had the opportunity for this learning experience.

Cool, I'm glad they were test eggs. I'm all for test hatching is important, it's how we learn things.

I sometimes hear of people being sent poor quality eggs on purpose. I'm so glad that's not what happened here.

Sounds like you did a good job keeping track of what was what.
