I have this cute little 2 day old quail chick named Cricket and he will be a Italian type. Usually Italian chicks are yellow with the three black or brown stripes on their back. Cricket on the other hand has one black stripe going down the center of his back and next to it is three black polka dots and on the other side you can barely make out any black. Kinda odd. I have hatched 3 Italians (one black stripe and two brown stripe). Crickets mother had the normal 3 brown stripes but the father is a A & M or Calico. Has anyone seen anything like this or am I overthinking it and he's just got cute baby fluff?
Let me know what ya'll think

And my little guy. Very cute, I'm hoping he'll look at little different then every other Italian haha. He also seems to have softer looking fluff.

If the fluff is pale yellow not dark yellow, it will probably turn out white with spots that are Italian patterned. Cute little one!

Edit: I was looking at the upper photo of the chicks, just reread the info and paid more attention to the last photo. If the stripes are very faint will probably be pale version of the Italian coloring. I would love to see more pics once the chick grows up. :)

Good to know! Thank you! I'll defiantly post an update in a couple weeks when fully feathered!

Super cute! I have also been raising quails, though they are Painted Quails, the tiny "I love you for food but don't touch me" quails. :p Though I do own two male Japanese Quails given to me from a friend, the little devils as I call them, I am breeding the Painted quails. ^^

These are my two current chicks, and I dunno if the other eggs may hatch due to the incubator having a derp one night and not working until I reset it, so these two may be my only ones from this batch. One that looks like a Double-Factor Bluefaced Cinnamon Tuxedo (try and say that 5 times fast :lau) and a regular Red Breasted chick.

The Tux's back is too dark to be a silver and lacks the sheen, is too light to be a regular tux, and is a similar hue to my full Double-Factor Bluefaced Cinnamons I had previously, darker head and all.
