I need to get the newsletter out and wondered what kind of questions would you ask of a famous or well known breeder or "up and coming" breeders??????

I have a writer's block still and can not figure out what questions I would need to ask besides of name of farm, name and location (city and state or just state). Also what kind of breeds/sizes they raise.

So if you were Barbara Walters or Cronkite interviewing a chicken person, what questions would you ask?

How would you know when it is too much information or is inappropriate?

What comes first, the chicken or the egg?,....

How did you decide on your breed? What made it stand out from other breeds to you?

How long have you been breeding this breed?

What got you started in chickens?

What do you think is the most important thing when breeding and showing?

How do you plan to help the fancy continue?

Are there any other breeds you've wanted to try but haven't?

I would ask how they got started, as I always find the individual stories of people very interesting. How people came to be doing what they are is often the most interesting part of biographies.

Then I would ask what they enjoy most about breeding or the fancy, as it can be different things for different people.

You could ask them what they feel the greatest challenge has been for them.

It's possible that you could ask them if they have anything special they are working on, that they feel like sharing. I wouldn't want to pry if they have a breeding project they are keeping secret. With that phrasing, they could answer if they wanted to or comfortably say no. Sometimes people are working on something that people do know they are working on.

I'd also ask if they have any tips they would like to offer to others. The tips could be either on getting started, developing in the hobby, record keeping, making it work financially, showing, housing, diet or health. Really, it's a wild card and would allow them to pick something they feel strongly about, that is often over looked by people or that has been a challenge for them. That would also allow them to choose something they feel comfortable sharing, rather than asking them to divulge information that is a "trade secret."

Heartandsoul, I love that humor! Each one of us have a different intake how chickens came here LOL!

RoPo and Woodland, EXCELLENT questions!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I feel like the writer's block is lifting and need to get it lined up for the questionaires. I hate to get too personal like when they talk about their families and their jobs but not interested in that unless it relates to how they got started in the chicken business or hobby or how they got started in this specific breed.
