hi,
i'm debbie from the uk.
i was wondering if any body else had observed a hen helping her chicks,
by pecking the shell whilst hatching? regards

I've never gotten to see chicks hatch, I always get out there when they're just starting to dry.

From Western Washington. I have never allowed the hens a whole lot of time with the chicks that I have allowed them to sit. I also can't see them very well, when they are sitting on their nests. I would think that it would depend on the hen herself, and it is not common to most hens.
