Hi I am new here, I have 4 hens and am on day 20 of a broody hatch. My hens are a Rhode Island Red, Buff Orphington, Amerucana, and a white one which I think is an Orphington. I like to read this forum for information about caring for my hens. I live in a suburban area, and am one of the few in my neighborhood who keep chickens for pets.

Yes "Goldie" is my broody, she is tiny, and lowest in peck order, but she is already a great mom. She's got 8 peepers now, and 4 more pipping through last I checked.

My RIR is the dominant bird of the flock, and Goldie the buff is the most submissive. Of the bunch. "Island Red" is the only one who will not let anyone pick her up.
