(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I’ve had chickens since I was born lol.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 4 pullets, 4 chicks, 4 older chickens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Rode island red, Zombie/Ghost chicken, silkie (I believe), and unknown
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
A) I feel like I’m responsible. I get to raise these animals from a young age -both the birds and me- and it makes me feel proud. B.) they are good at detecting predators. C.) they eat pests. D.) fresh eggs and meat (even though I don’t eat mine, just use them for meat). E.) I get to teach younger kids a valuable learning experience.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Art, music, learning Italian and sign language. Studying for ethology (basically animal behavior. Kinda like biology). Getting slightly into graphic design and editing, building, etc.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a boxer, a mountain cur x fiest dog, 5 cats, and a few chickens. I haven’t had good luck at keeping chickens due to predators. I’m here for help. Please and thank you. I’ve already learned ALOT from this website and the nice people here have helped me so so much and I want to thank you all!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I honestly can’t remember how I found BYC lol. But I believe it was from google or safari one day and I clicked on a link, bringing me here. I found it years ago, forgot about it for a while, then re-found it. I constantly use this website because it’s absolutely amazing and I brag about it ALOT! The only reason I haven’t officially joined until now was simply because I was too dang lazy to do all this haha!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow Love your intro!

If you post a picture of your coop and run, some of us can give you pointers. One thing for sure, though, 1/2" hardware cloth will keep out most predators, but chicken wire won't.

We're glad you're here!
