Our chicks are 6 weeks old. on nice-weather weekends, while we are working on the coop, i've been bringing them outside in a "playpen". They seem to really enjoy themselves and they are really cute
picking around in the grass (no chemicals used on our lawn [for lack of a better word to call our grassy area]). after a few hours, they all just bed down in the longer grass for a siesta.
My questions: Is it okay for them to be foraging out in the grass for the better part of a sunny day? (they have access to shade and water).
My logic tells me, if they were with Mama, she'd be introducing them to all sorts of edible stuff, right from the start. Of course, my girls are not with Mama and they are still on start and grow. Since they are eating grass and seeds and bugs and whatnot, while outside, do i need to offer grit? If so, what do i do?
as always, thank you for any advice you can offer. I really appreciate you folks here....you're the only ones that REALLY understand all the shenanigans we've been having these past several weeks!
