We just rescued a redbone mix breed. She appears to be around 3 years old so I’m super worried about introducing her to my flock. She doesn’t seem to pay any mind to them but they definitely don’t like her, she walks around their coop and they all run into the roost. I’m concerned that they will never be comfortable free ranging again and it was their home first so I feel bad! What’s is everyone’s experience with bringing in a new dog to being around your chickens? And maybe a rooster would be a good addition to my flock of only hens to maybe ward off the prey drive of our new dog?

Dogs seem to either bother chickens or they don't. Your chickens will get used to the dog being around. My dogs will occasionally chase my chickens. It doesn't deter them one bit. They just come right back out after the dogs stop.

Definitely watch how your dog interact, and whether it tries to chase the chickens or not. It's easier to correct a new habit, than an older one.

Either only experiences with something that looks like a dog has been bad for your chickens, or the dog is giving signals you are missing that the chickens do not like. Hounds (Black and Tan as well as Bluetick) for me relatively easy to break from having interest in chickens. Control dog using leash during early stages of introductions making sure you have good control.
