I am picking up a roo this weekend to add to our flock of 5 ladies..
He is a couple of weeks younger than them...they are 12 weeks.

How do I go about the introductions beside quarantining him for awhile?
Is a rooster easier to introduce to hens because he will be dominant?
Our australorp girl is a bully and she is big, she is used to being queenie...will she attack him?
any advice or link to a similar thread would be very helpful...
sorry for being brief, i have a toddler passed out on my arm so I am typing one armed!

I would quarantine him the 30 days and then slip him in the coop at night after they settle down. In the morning they'll just look at him & go about their business.

hmm so hens don't tend to freak out with a roo joining them? I know it can get ugly at any point, i mean just in general they take it better than another hen coming into a flock?

I had mine in jail and my 2 barred rocks broke him out so he just joined them in their free ranging. I know he stuck with the younger chickens I never had a problem with him he stayed close to the girls. Just watch when he hits his teenage months boy do the hormones affect roosters.

I have a young BR roo that and two BR hens that I will be adding to my flock of hens at some point. At what age do the "teenage" hormones start kicking in for the BR roo?
