I recently had the opportunity to purchase a gorgeous group of paint naked necks. There are 3 pullets and 1 cockerel in the group, the lady wouldn't separate them. They are all still pretty young ~2.5 months or so. I currently have a silkie/NN flock already with about 8 hens and 3 roosters. The 3 roosters I currently have were raised together and do not fight. They seem laid back and always walk around and roost together. I would like to be able to keep my new paint rooster and integrate him into my current flock for some color variety. Anyone have any experience bringing in a pretty young cockerel that isn't a baby? I rarely let my bantams free range just because they get snatched up quickly, but they are in an extra large 20' by 15' coop. Any advice is appreciated.

Just a note that if integration doesn't work, my paint group will have their own coop. But, I would love the convenience of having them all together if possible.

If you want this new males offspring, you'll have to segregate the other males anyway.

I would keep paint keep the paint together and separate from the other groups, if you really want to maintain that pure group. If you have another pure NN in the other group, you could breed back to him.

Well they don't call it cockfighting for nothing. No matter how laid back your current roosters are, I would expect them to become aggressive to the new rooster.

They are your chickens, and you can sure try it, but I strongly recommend having a plan B set up and ready to go.
