Problem,, daughter wanted a rooster, I had 1 to many so I gave her my young roo ..a short time later we got her an other little bit older roo, she has about 40 hens, 2 roo's should be OK but they fight till they are bloody and she has to separate them. Is there a good way to get them to get along or is it hopeless?? She had kept them separate for about a week one in a tractor the other free range and in beg run with hens

Probably hopeless. It`s just the way God made them. Roosters, even hens are very territorial and resent strangers. Now I know many folks will dissagree and cite instances where they have multiple roosters, but your circumstances are quite the norm. You can raise a youngster and the old man will tollerate him until he gets to the age when he challenges the old man, then there will be a pecking order squabble and the old man will hold his "cock of the walk" status for as long as he is able. Problem with adding a youngster to the flock is that the hens will resent him and chase him around. It`s kinda complicated. My suggestion, go with one rooster and if you wanna hatch eggs, pen him with a few hens until you have enough eggs, then put them all back with the flock. Ain`t chickens fun?......Pop
