So I have an established flock of hens and a serama rooster along with two baby chicks almost 8 weeks old (BLRW and silkie). The babies have been in a pen outside all day with the big girls to have the together but separate time for almost 2 weeks now. These past couple days I’ve been opening the door for them to interact with supervision since I want to merg them together pretty soon. All my girls are okay with them expect for one hen ( the bottom of the pecking order). And my rooster is trying to mate with them. Do all roosters do this to chicks? I thought they left the young ones alone.. maybe it’s cause the chicks are his size? Any advice on merging them?

It’s completely normal for that to happen. As long as they’re not getting aggressive with them they should be fine.
