Introducing Chicks

Hi everyone.

I have a 3 week old and 1 week old I'm trying to introduce and live together in a brooder since I have 7 brand new on the way. Every time I put them together the little one goes for the big one's eyes without hesitation or breaks. Not maliciously but constant. The large one is not exactly backing away and dodges only a little. I'm afraid some real damage will be done.

Am I overreacting or should I actually be worried some damage will be done before a pecking order is established?

Sounds like a little issue. Best way is to put them in two homes where they can look at each other but not get to the other. This allows them to get close and not be able to touch each other. You could do it for 3 days and then put them back in and watch for a few mins. Might need to go a week apart though.
