Totally new to chicken raising so... any help is appreciated. We have two younger chickens (about 5 weeks old) have had them since they were chicks.... put them in their outside coop a few weeks ago, have started to let them free range..... all is going well. Our neighbor is looking to cut back his flock and we would like to take one or two of his full grown/egg laying hens. How should I go about this?

Hope this helps, and good luck to you!!

Thanks for these links. I looked at this info (and have researched the whole process in the past) but was concerned about the fact that there will be such a small number 2 + 2, the age difference and the fact that I have a kind of small coop with a small attached run. I know every situation is different but thought maybe somebody had info on these specific issues :)
