Hello! I read through many of the posts, but couldn't find an answer to my question... So I thought I'd post a new one.

I have three 12 week old chicks, and one of them turned out to be a rooster (he is going to a farm tomorrow, as I live in a city that doesn't allow roosters). I wanted to get two more chickens, to compensate for the loss of the roo, and my uncle ended up giving me two today from his flock. This was a bit sooner than I had planned, but I couldn't turn them down.

They are (2) year-old Polish hens, and are a bit flighty. The two established chicks that I'm keeping are a Buff Orpington and a Speckled Sussex, and even though they are young, they are already bigger than the Polish girls. All of the threads I read were about introducing chicks to established hens... But how do you do the opposite? How should I introduce my new hens to my chicks? Right now they are all outside in their run, with a fence separating the new ones from the old ones. How long should they stay separate? When the roo is gone tomorrow, will it be easier to introduce them? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!
