Hello, first time chicken lady here. We have 4 6 weeks old chicks (Teenagers) that are currently still inside. (We have had extremely cold weather for May here) We are schedule to receive 4 laying hens in June. By then the teens will be out in the coop/run. What would be the best way to introduce the layers into the coop with the already established teenagers? I am concerned about the bigger layers pecking to death my teenagers or visa versa. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Once the layers come I would either put them or the teenagers in a dog crate (or something they can see each other through) and let them get used to each other for a day, then let them out with eachother and closely supervise, if they peck at eachother a little that is normal but extreme pecking or if it continues for too long (more than a couple hours) then they shouldn't be together yet...hope I helped!
