Hi! I am the human handler of 2 chickens. One was a neighbor's who adopted us. The neighbor said it could stay as they were getting out of chickening. Penny must have known what was going on and moved next door. Lucky (previously known as Melisaundra) is the lone survivor of a fox attack. My niece called. The conversation started with a sweet voiced "Aunt Brenda?..." Of course we said yes. Our girls have survived us and our lack of chickening experience. We are interested in the ups and downs that others have faced in their chickening experience. (Yes, we call it chickening.) I am looking forward to learning a lot from you. Take care!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Ups: too many to list!!
Downs: free ranging will lead to predator loss (aka - neighbors GSDs), cockerels/roosters are a challenge, broody hens can be outrageously stubborn, chicken math makes you spend lots of time building bigger coops and runs!!

learn, here and everyone is so friendly. Also love how you adopted, Lucky and
then Penny decided to adopt you. lol :clap
Thank you. It wasn't hard to do. Most of our feathered and fur friends are adopted from someone else.
