What a welcome! Thanks everyone!
Just washed my first chicken butt-well, on a full grown hen. Gleet, I guess. A nasty brick attached to her hiney. Once I got her all cleaned and trimmed a bit her vent looks fine, but the area between her legs and below the vent seems very soft—kind of a pouch. Does this sound normal?
Thanks again.

Hello CoolD! I'll add my welcome now, since I missed you a couple of weeks ago when you first introduced yourself.

As to your question, I haven't experienced that (in about 8 years of chicken-keeping). If she were my hen, I'd be cautiously optimistic that it would improve now that you got her cleaned up, but I'd keep an eye on it. Perhaps someone else has some better insights.

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

All of my older egg laying hens had soft "bulgy" areas under their vents. It never presented any problems for them that I'm aware of...

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this thread. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
