(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am new to chickens. We recently moved from tract house suburbia to 7 acres. We bought our 8 chicks in mid-March so getting ready to move them this weekend into their new coop.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 8 and that is my limit (per my husband)
(3) What breeds do you have? 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Sapphire Gems, 1 Australorp, 1 Americauna, 1 Dark Brahma, 1 Wellsummer
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? just getting to know them has been fun. My Australorp is definitely the hen in charge. My Wellsummer was the biggest chick and pushed the others around and now she is the smallest chicken so it has been fun to watch her step back in the pecking order.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We live in Colorado so we camp, boat, snowboard, hike...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My children are 17 and 19. We have 4 dogs that will need to be watched around the chickens. Nervous about this part. I work in insurance and my husband is an auto body technician.
