Hi, I am new here (first post) though I must admit I have read your posts for information. I decided to make it official and join
I live in Oregon and while I had chickens growing up it's been a number of years and things are a bit rusty and honestly I relied on my parents know how. I just gathered the eggs, fed and watered and cleaned up after them and didn't worry about all the other things you need to know about raising chickens.
We bought a house with some land about 18 months ago and this spring got 5 chicks (a barred rock, a golden sex-link, a black sex-link, a Rhode Isand red and an araucana). The araucana was my daughters joy (well we all loved her she was an absolute sweet little thing) and we lost her last night tragically to a raccoon. It was awful...
so that is what leads me here today and now I will post my questions/concerns in the appropriate location.
