Happy Sunday and Holy Week Chicken World,

I have slowly started introducing my new chicken with my existing chicken. They are doing very well thus far. Very gentle pecking from my Betsy (existing 👑 chicken). Dolly the new chicken doesn’t seem too bothered.

Questions:

How do I get the new chicken to go inside the coop with my existing chicken without too much trauma when it’s night time?

What should I expect?

Should I place the new chicken alone in that chicken coop/run ?? To figure it out?

My chicken/nest set up is inside an enclosure. Plenty of space in the enclosure so that the new chicken can hide if necessary.

Please see attached pictures with text for further clairifciation.

I know most of you are what I call “ chicken cooperation folks” with Purdue sized set ups. Not everyone is like that including myself. 😉 Maybe one day.

I would appreciate non- condescending and polite advice. If you have attitude or dislike city folks like me then vent elsewhere. Peace be with you and God bless your soul.

If I am not clear in my question I can try to clarify…

I added text to the pictures.

Thank you!

The new chicken probably will roost next to you’re older Betsy without you having to do anything.

I do recommend to heighten the roost if there is enough headspace. Just above the nesting boxes. That is if possible and if the breed you have can jump.
Sounds like a good idea!! Thank you❤️. I have a nice tree branch that Dolly the new one loves to perch on and I believe it to be long enough to elevate!! Wow 🤩 great idea!!! Thank you and God Bless for being cool and nice!

How nice that Betsy has a friend. Wish you luck with both of them.
Thank you so much!!! They are getting along so well. Both of them went into the coop at night locked up and all. Then I took them out this am and they both came out! I was so excited. The new chicken is Dolly. It is funny cause when I had her in her separate crate for “quarantine” she was so docile and easy to grab. She still is docile. But now that she is free in the enclosure with Betsy she runs from me lol!! Betsy helps me come after her. I go after her from one end and Betsy to from the other. It’s hilarious. This morning I held her and told her “ hey Dolly don’t get all crazy on me… you were being all lovey dubby and now what??? You think cause you have freedom it’s over between us… I don’t think so!!! “

Lol… then I held her tight and she let me pet her and closed her eyes as I caressed her. I got to make sure she doesn’t become a crazy wild bird… I want her to be my lap Chicken. Of course Betsy is very loyal to me. She squats when I walk by her or place my arm on her. She never runs from me and lets me hold her for a decent amount of time. So here is the flock rank now:
I am the General, Betsy is Lieutenant General and Dolly is an officer. Lol 😂
