I bought some young hens and they are in quarantine for a month to insure they are healthy before I introduce them to my small, existing flock. How careful do I need to be? Should I change my boots after I am in the quarantined area before I go into the area my other chickens live? I think I know the answer, "yes", but what a pain. I will do what I need to do to keep my girls and Roo healthy though.

Thanks!

Yes. Or, you can just take care of the new birds last.

Also keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at the coop and the quarentine areas.

Thanks. Good advice! When I worked at a veterinary office we used to spray the bottoms of our shoes with a bleach solution. I may keep this on hand too.
