I may end up getting a few more this summer (is this chicken math??? Wanted 6 originally, lol) so I assume if I get them from a person off Craigslist I need to quarantine the new ones for a while. What is the appropriate time to quarantine? Weeks? Days?

Alot of people quarantine for 30 days or sometimes even longer. Some never quarantine at all. There isnt a set time period to quarantine. I'm a firm believer in biosecurity. You want enough time to dust them for lice/mites, worming them, and giving time for any bacterial, viral or fungal issue to manifest itself and show symptoms, time for you to diagnose the problem and time to treat the problem, then there's recovery time or cull time. The ultimate decision is yours though.

Yeah - I think 30 days is the goal to insure safety. To be honest, I've only contained for 2 weeks though, and my containment was more for lice/mite/worm issues than disease. One I got from DH's friend, and two came from BYC folks, so maybe I felt a potentially false sense of security???
