I currently have 3 pullets in my (sub)UrbanCoop. All are EE, one is almost 5 months old the other two are almost 4 months. I have built a larger coop/run to house up to 5 hens (with room to spare, but I didn't want to max out my chicken space in the first year). I would like to introduce 2 Wyandottes, approx 4 months old. I wanted everyone to be about the same age so there would not be too much arguing going on. A little pecking order, but that is to be expected.

I received the first 3 EE from a local farm. They are happy and healthy. I would love to get my Wyandottes from her also, but she does not raise them so I will be getting them from another local farmer who does. I have visited the farm and feel pretty good about the conditions in which the girls have been kept, but my big question is... should I quarantine the newbies or check for anything specific before putting them on the roost in the middle of the night with my existing flock (haha can I call three chickens a flock)?

Thanks for any information and advice.

If you can get a large dog crate or something along those lines, I'd qurrentine them for a week just to make sure they won't get sick. I'm more worried for them getting sick at a new place, and they will get your chickies sick from carrying diseases your chickens aren't immune to. So yes, I'd seperate for a week or so, and then slowly introduce them. Maybe clean out the same crate and introducing them between that so if they fight too hard the new ones will be protected, that or you could drop them together and seperate if fighting is too bad. (If you want introduction thoughts I can link a thread where I posted about 3 different types of introducing styles but I know you didn't ask :P )
