(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got chickens a year ago. So we are pretty new to it. It is way different than it was when we were kids.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have a small flock of 20chickens.
7 grown hens 1 rooster
8 pullets including 1 rooster
6 chicks
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have 14 different breeds of chickens with 12 different colors being laid daily.
We have a variety: silkies, sizzle, frizzle, multiple polish breeds, americana, cream Legbar, Oliver egger, red/blue wydonette, Cucu muran, Millie fleur, Dulce, Hamburg, and a seabright.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
All the different personalities of our birds.
And of course little chick purrs and clicks.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Too many to name. We are very outdoorsie and animal friendly.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are both teachers.
Have bunnies and raise service dogs.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
The chicken lady at Wilco told us about the group when we kept getting chicks.
