So I’ve expanded my flock to include a second breed. Right now all of them are together and getting along nicely as they’ve mostly grown up together. in a few weeks I want to put them in separate pens for breeding however I want them to winter together as the bigger barn is much warmer and I wouldn’t need to have two heated eaters and two heat lamps. Is there any chances of that? I’m the most worried about separating the two roosters and then trying to put the two roosters together. Anyone done this on a regular basis? Any suggestions on how to do this successfully would be appreciated.

Well as you have different set ups anyway, it might be better to improve them. As it will not just be the roosters that will be upset with the split and back together.

However, a lot of breeders do separate a rooster with just 2-3, so it can be done.
