Introducing silkie rooster to the flock of 7 girls

This is the ingredient used in Sevin Dust: Dust contains the active ingredient carbaryl.

Not sure if it's harmful to chickens, or not.

I have seen some people used it on their chickens that have mites. But I’ll make sure to buy permethrin dust to try it out 😀

Cockerels aren't supposed to eat layer pellets due to the high calcium content. It damages kidneys.

Wow I did not know that. I’ll make sure to get him more protein base foods. What would you recommend a food for both hens and rooster since they’re going to be in the same coop?

Nutrena All Flock Pellets. It's 20% protein.

Are the ladies laying? If so offer oyster shells on the side.

Some chickens do not like pellets if they are not used to them. Try making a mash out of All Flock crumbles and see if he will eat it. You may also be able to get him to eat some plain scrambled eggs. He could be sick or maybe just adjusting to his new environment.😊

Yes the ladies have been laying for over a month. Now I know why he’s not eating much because he’s only want to eat grass. So how do I get him to eat anything else? I tried to give fermented feed, scratch, scramble eggs but he wouldn’t eat any of that. When I I put him on the lawn then he start eating grass. Any suggestion? Thank you

Encourage pecking by sprinkling the feed in the grass?
