Hi! I am adopting a single hen (that appeared on my plumbers doorstep) to my 3, 4 week old chicks. She's been without a flock for at least a month, will she take the chicks under her wing, so to speak or am I delusional and she'll totally attack them?

How should I introduce them? at night in the coop? During the day so I can watch? In the coop or free-ranging in the yard? The chicks have been sleeping out in the coop because the nights have been so warm and they're mostly feathered out...

We just introduced a RIR hen to our three pullets (not old enough to lay) and although it's recommended to do it at night, we did it during the daylight and it went fine. We put her on a roost & she eventually got comfortable enough to get down & check the place out. She was a rescue from my ex-hubby & had been a loner hen for some time, so I worried how she would do, but turns out she is the sweetest hen we have.
