Introducing young hens to a lone roo

Hi so we recently were given a barred rock rooster. Since we already had a bantam rooster in with our hens. we went out and got some chicks. Now that their 8 weeks old and no longer need their heat lamp we want to put them out with the lone rooster, Just wondering if there is a special way of introducing them or just putting them in and watch for any fights. How old is the rooster? I personally wouldn't put such young chicks with an older rooster until they are older and have started to lay. The rooster could harm them.
