Introducing young to old chickens

I have 5 roughly 4 year old hens and just acquired a new, approximately 4 month old, black Australorp hen from a friend. She is not much smaller than the others. I made the mistake of putting the young one in the run during daytime instead of introducing her into the coop at night while all were roosting. I've had the new one for a week now and the others keep her separated from them. The new one also keeps jumping out of my run which is only surrounded by short fences and not covered on top. I'm guessing she's doing it mostly from stress.
Is there anyway for me to rectify this situation to get the others to accept her or do i need to remove her for good? I can't have her keep getting out and possibly out of the yard itself.

Personally, I don't think that's a mistake. I know everyone's coop is different but if I added one at night, silly though they are, I really don't think they are stupid enough to think she has been there the last four years lol. I think that sort of method is more for big flocks where there are many smaller sub groups and less for small flocks that know everybody really we'll. If I added one to mine at night that would just mean first thing in the morning she would be trapped with 8 very cranky hens who saw her as an intruder and nowhere to get away from them until I unlocked their door.

You are going to find adding one hen is going to be hard. You need to seperate her for a few weeks so she is in with them so they get used to her but seperate enough they can't peck her. Then let her in with them but make sure there are lots of feed stations so that she can get food and water as they will try and protect their food from her. Eventually, after lots of pecking and lots of time, she should settle in at the bottom of the pecking order though she I'll likely never have any "friends".

As for the escaping, my australorps are definatly more prone to flying up and over things than my others. She may still do that just because she can and to get to the grass on the other side. Mine will happily escape from their run into my back yard but never show any interest in escaping out of the backyard.

Can't remember where I heard the night intro thing, but I did it awhile back when I added 2 new ones in and i don't remember them having much of a problem. I thought about taking her out for 2-3 days and then reintroducing her at night, but will look at rigging up a divider in the run. My others don't even attempt trying to fly out unless they get spooked and I trimmed the wings on the new one, but my run fence is still short enough (3 ft.) that she can get over, especially with a running start. Thanks for the input
