(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Barbara has kept chickens before in a back yard, but had to give up due to a house move with a garden too small for chickens.
Thomas is new to keeping chickens, but has helped in many rescue operations to rehome chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have five chickens:
1) Buffy, Sussex Star (White)
2) Princess Leia Egg (Bluebell) - she earned this title because 2 days after coming home with us she layed an egg. She's done it again 2 days later, but now 3 days without one.. wonder if that's her done with her career! (She's 19 weeks so probably too soon to be steady).
3) Freiya, (Daisy Bell)
4) Skyla, (Skyline)
5) Caramel (Buff Barred)
They are very much family already and have already shown their own little personalities.

(3) What breeds do you have?
As above.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Sitting outside with the chickens and just watching them do funny things.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

With 2 kids, we don;t have much time for hobbies, but we do enjoy jigsaws, computer games and love cooking.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 2 boys (Alex 10, Daniel 5), 5 cats from when our households merged, and well, 5 chickens now. We live in Reading, UK right next to a forest. Thomas looks after the kids and the house and Barbara works in IT. Which is why we have a live video camera feed to watch the chickens when we're in the office...

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

When I google for common questions, I tend to find loads of forum posts here.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So glad you decided to join our community. Aww...your flock is adorable! :love Love their names too. Chickens sure are fun to keep!

Make yourself at home here and enjoy all the chicken chat!

Thank you for the warm welcomes :) It's great to have found a place with like-minded people when it comes to chickens! My mum is very much against it all and has little understanding - which is weird given she grew up on the countryside and her mother kept lots of chickens!
