A beautiful rooster flew onto our property after a storm about a three months ago. Immediately thought he was our neighbors because they have lots of chickens but we found out he was not. He hung out on the porch for several days and became hand tame to me. He started going next door and harassing hints hens over there so I decided to build him a coupe and buy him some chicks to raise as his own flock. I got three laying hens from my friend and ordered 24 day-old chicks plus the exotic bonus chick from McMurray. They came in well.9 weeks later they are hand tame free-range with converted shed as a coop but unfortunately rooster got hit by a coyote before the coop was completed. His name was Turkey Lurckey. My hens will be laying in another eight weeks.

Predators are brutal.
