I'm totally new to all of this. I've wanted chickens for years, but recently ended up with a rescue around 6-8 or so weeks old I think.

I just have the one chicken at the moment. I'm planning to get three or so more in the next few weeks once I'm better prepared and educated.

Not sure about what breed she is. That's what I was trying to figure out before I decided to sign up. Lol.

Welcome to BYC! Do you have a coop and run setup? Are you planning to buy chicks or pullets?
I'd suggest reading up on integrating new chickens. Best of luck!
Hello! I'm planning on getting pullets so I can get her with other chickens a little sooner. I've only had her for about a week. She was mistreated by her previous owner, which led to a neighbor asking if I would be willing to take her in. Right now she's inside a very large tote with everything she needs for now. I'm not sure if I want to order a cheaper coop and run online to start with, or take my time and shop around/build my own.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Post a picture of her here.
Where are you keeping her? It would actually be a very good idea to get 2 chicks to raise near her so she is not alone.
How many birds do you plan to keep?
Right now she's in a large tote in my bedroom. I'm planning on keeping four total. And thank you! I'll look into that asap.

I'd personally build my own coop/run. The prefab coops are never as nice and never hold the amount of chickens they claim. I'd say if you buy, check out storage sheds first. More bang (& size) for your $$$.
If you buy grown chickens be sure and read up on quarenteen and Integration.
She is a pretty girl!

That's what I've been noticing. I've been reading and watching reviews on some of them.
And thank you! No worries, I've been studying up the best I can. I'll post any updates or questions I have when I get to that point. :)
