Hi all!
I am fairly new to backyard ducks. We have 4, a Rouen, a blue runner, and 2 cayuga's. All of them female for egg laying purposes. I found out about this forum from some friends who also raise ducks. I have had a lot of help planning our ducks pen and pond from searching the various posts here. We decided to start raising ducks as our middle son and daughter are allergic to chicken and chicken eggs, so I've been cooking and baking with duck eggs as the egg replacements are terrible. We have always had trouble finding duck eggs for sale and most of the time when we would, they would be incredibly expensive, so we decided to research and raise our own ducks. We just have the four ducks as pets, we use to have an 8 year old sphynx cat because my middle son is allergic to cat hair, but he passed away last year and we have not had the heart to replace him. I will probably be asking a lot of questions over the next few months until I get a hang of being a duckie mom.
