Hi, I'm new to the group although I've been reading posts and looking at pictures for years. I bought a small house and property in rural South Alabama 2 years ago but have been working on the house and haven't done anything but try to keep the weeds in check outside. This year I decided to put in a garden and get chicks.
I've got a small raised bed garden started and will continue adding beds to get it ready for fall crops. I have 11 chicks who are bursting out of the brooder and a young rooster in my cockatiels large (for a cockatiel) cage. Thank goodness the coop is going up this weekend so I can get them all outside during the day.
My rooster is a Buff Orpington along with 2 chicks who i hope are both pullets. I have some ee/bo, a br/bo and 3 that may be jersey giant / bo. Not sure. My others are a silver-laced Wyndotte, a White-Crested Blue Polish and a White-Crested Black Polish. Once i see how many cockerals I have I plan to add a couple more chicks. I've been dreaming of having chickens for years and it's pretty exciting.
