Hi all, I'm very excited to have finally joined after reading so many great posts and discussions!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am a high school ag teacher and this past spring one of my classes hatched chicks that I was planning on taking home at the end of the school year since I had been thinking about getting chickens for a couple of years now
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We hatched 6 and lost one, and of the remaining 5 we hatched 4 were roosters. I kept one rooster and the pullet we hatched, and have two Easter Egger pullets I bought the week after they hatched for a total of 4
(3) What breeds do you have?
My rooster, is a GLW X Speckled Sussex, one pullet is a NHR X SS cross, and the other two pullets are Easter Eggers
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
learning new things about chickens, and fresh eggs
(5) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I did a ton of research on BYC before, during, and after hatching, as well as when we were building their coop
