Hi, my name is Charlotte. I started last summer with chicks bought at Tractor Supply. Some got sick and others killed by raccoons. I started again by hatching out 12 from my brother's midnight majesty marans. Only 5 were hens but I'm getting 4 eggs a day from the 5 month olds. I bought 6 additional pullets this season and now I'm supposed to have Ameraucanas. I think some are going to be Easter Eggers. I'm hatching a barnyard mix and today is hatch day. I'm afraid of the food supply problem, that's why I started. My grannies both had chickens when I was a child. I am a professional seamstress and quite domesticated. I have 3 grown children and 9 grands. So my quiver is full. I also garden, so I'm attempting to raise some of their feed. I learned about this site from asking questions on Google. I glad to be here because I have a lot to learn.
