1) Hello everyone, thanks for the add. Military family here. We’ve finally stopped moving around and landed back here in WA. I feel like a newbie to owning chickens because it’s been awhile since my last flock. We’ve had Barred Rock and Rhode Island Reds before.
(2) We currently picked up 6 babies, but I understand chicken math so we’ll see what that number grows to be next month!
(3) We wanted a variety of breeds this time. So we picked an Easter Egger, a Red producer (looks like a Rhode Island Red to me), a Blue Producers (not sure what breed these producers are), a Wyandotte, an Orpington, and a Leghorn. I let the kids pick so there was a lot of back and forth.
(4) We love the fact that they produce eggs for us and we know what went into the chicken and that it was treated with kindness and love. Happy chickens=happy eggs!
(5) I don’t feel like I have time for hobbies at the moment, but love all things homesteading.
(6) We’d love to learn how to raise other animals like pigs and cows although we aren’t equipped just yet to make that leap.
(7) Bonus: I belong to a few FB Groups to refresh my memory about chickens. I kept seeing BYC being suggested as a good resource on all things chicken so popped over to take a look, liked what I saw and joined same day.
