Hello, I'm from over in Western Washington. I've had chickens for about three years now. Currently I have four, as we lost one to a coyote and one to the smoke from that fire we had a few years back. I've got one plymouth rock and three easter eggers.
My favorite part of raising chickens is when I'll be doing something out in the yard and the chickens all come to hang out and see what I'm doing. The other favorite part is eggs. I also garden, do nalbinding and spinning, and write and do video edits.
I've got a dog that doesn't particularly like our chickens, as she thinks all the food should be her's, but she's a very dutiful watch dog all the same and has since we got chickens, taken a less liking to the mailman before. I also have two cats, the smallest of which (smaller than the chickens) thinks he has a chance at catching a chicken when we go for a walk. Despite the leash. And that they're bigger than him.
BYC is the site that always comes up when I'm having a problem or doing some research, so I wanted to participate fully.

Hello, and welcome to BYC! It's great to see another chicken enthusiast join the forum.

I am sorry to hear about your losses to the coyote and the fire. Predators can be a real challenge when it comes to keeping chickens, but it sounds like you're doing a good job at protecting your remaining hens.

I completely understand the joy of having your chickens come and hang out with you while you're working outside. They're such curious and social creatures. And, of course, fresh eggs are always a great reward for keeping these wonderful animals.

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself, and I look forward to seeing you around the forum!
