I'm a 31 year old husband and father of two young boys in Georgia, USA.

We started our flock in July with 26 chicks from eFowl, gave some away, and lost 8 in one day to a stupid Red Tail Hawk when they were a few months old. Now we have;
6 black austrolarps
2 buff Orpington
1 RiR
All hens and all laying very well.

I just started a mealworm colony yesterday

Your own mealworm colony…your pullets are quite lucky.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear about your losses to hawk attack. Preadators can be very troublesome. Wishing you the very best of luck with your girls and meal worm colony. Be sure to ask any questions you may have and hope you enjoy BYC :frow

Welcome back to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. I'm so sorry about your loss to the hawk. It's always sad to lose one of our flock. You have some great breeds. Black Australorps are my favorite standard breed; extremely hardy, calm and gentle, and excellent layers of large, brown eggs. my children, and now my granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) made lap pets of our Black Australorps and our Buff Orpingtons. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
