Hello Everyone! Our names are Jaci and Nick and we bought a house a year ago in Central Minnesota. After much research and discussion, we decided to get chickens! We are in the process of searching for a reputable breeder near our location and have not yet chosen one.

We are new to chickens but have done research over a 1 year period so to get started on the right foot.

We plan on getting 4 chickens which is maximum for our location and city ordinance. Plus I think we can really plan a good coop for that amount.

For breeds, I think the best combo would be 2 australorps, 1 orpington and 1 Wyandotte. From what research we did, they seem to be best for our situation. Good winter birds and docile personalities.

Both of us love animals and the connection we have with them are stronger than what we have with most humans. Joking aside, we believe these will be beneficial for us emotionally and good for our yard/garden. Having good egg layers will also be a benefit to our health and gardening.

Some other hobbies we have are motorcycling. I have been motorcycling for over 10 years and love every part of it. Jaci is a data scientist and is very into coding. We both love video games and will play our own consoles in the basement together.

We also have to elderly dogs that are incredible and we love very much. Grizzly is a GSP/Chesapeake Bay mix and he will 15 this year. Bruiser is an aptly named Rabbit Dachshund that will be 13 this year. They are very chill and do most of the relaxing around the house.

I heard of this website right when I started researching chickens. I have a separate account that I used for a little while, but thought I'd have my wife join in on all the fun ;). Can't wait to interact and learn new things with everyone and become chicken owners like all of you!
