Is 10" deep enough for nest box?

There's a guy selling old wooden crates at his barn sale tomorrow and I'd like to get some for nest boxes. They measure 24"x30"x10". I figure I can divide them and make 4. Is 10" deep enough? Thanks

I think it depends on the type chicks you're putting in there. I think 10" is the smallest I'd go but I have large breeds. My boxes are 12" wide by almost 14" deep. I know that's kinda big but that's how they worked out...

BR and BS are big birds. Most of my boxes are 12X12X12 and they were perfect for my big birds.
